Neighbor to Neighbor’s Board of Directors embodies a core belief: those most impacted by affordable housing challenges deserve a voice in shaping solutions. As a chartered member of NeighborWorks America, which encourages organizations to ensure that at least one-third of board members represent the communities they serve, N2N’s 2026 board includes three resident members who represent the affordable housing communities we serve. For Neighbor to Neighbor, this structure is more than a requirement – it ensures the board remains closely connected to residents and ensures decisions about housing and community investments incorporate their lived experiences.
“Resident board members bring diverse experiences, valuable insights, and leadership to the organization. When it comes to serving their community, they strengthen the board by ensuring balance and bringing essential perspectives to board discussions and decision-making,” shared Executive Director Kelly Evans.
Meet the 2026 N2N Resident Board Members
Marla (pictured left) is currently the longest-tenured resident member, and she balances her board service with a career as a personal trainer while preparing to launch her own bodywork business. Marla has also participated in the Community Leadership Institute (CLI) and national leadership training through NeighborWorks America. Resident leaders who attend these trainings return each year with projects designed to strengthen their communities. In the past, N2N resident leaders planned and organized an N2N Resident Health Fair.
“Serving on the N2N Board has given me the opportunity to see firsthand the dedication, collaboration, and hard work that take place behind the scenes to make this organization so impactful,” Marla explained. “It has deepened my appreciation for the many people who contribute to its success and for the positive difference it makes in our community. I’ve also had the privilege of attending three CLI conferences on behalf of N2N, which has further strengthened my growth as a leader.”
Christy (pictured center) is the board’s newest resident member. She has attended CLI conferences and is a NeighborWorks “Building Leaders, Building Communities” certified facilitator, which equips her to train and develop leadership skills in her neighbors. Christy also serves on the resident committee, hosts events for residents, and is a talented crochet artist who enjoys spending time with her family.
Kassie (pictured right) works as a personal health aide supporting seniors and people with special needs. In addition to serving on the board, Kassie volunteers as a resident liaison, welcoming new neighbors to her community.
